Overview
Secretin porcine is a hormone used to stimulate pancreatic and gastric secretions. It aids in diagnosing exocrine pancreas dysfunction, gastrinoma, and facilitates the identification of the ampulla of Vater and accessory papilla during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Its primary action is to stimulate pancreatic ductal cells to secrete bicarbonate-rich pancreatic fluid by binding to secretin receptors and opening CFTR channels.
