Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of secukinumab and tretinoin is a therapeutic approach for treating moderate to severe psoriasis vulgaris. This combination leverages the distinct mechanisms of action of both drugs to provide enhanced efficacy compared to either agent alone. Secukinumab, a fully human monoclonal IgG1/κ antibody, targets and neutralizes interleukin-17A (IL-17A), a proinflammatory cytokine central to psoriasis pathogenesis, thereby inhibiting the inflammatory cascade. Tretinoin, a vitamin A derivative, regulates keratinocyte differentiation and possesses anti-inflammatory properties, helping to normalize skin cell turnover and complementing secukinumab's immunomodulatory effects.
