Overview

SED-087 is a preclinical cyclic disulfide derivative that acts as an inhibitor of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR). Developed by researchers at the University of Puerto Rico, the compound was designed to target the redox-active sites of TrxR, which is overexpressed in various tumors and promotes cell proliferation. In preclinical screenings, SED-087 demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity against a panel of breast cancer cell lines, including MCF-7, ZR-75-1, BT-20, MDA-MB-468, SkBr-3, BT-474, and MDA-MB-231, by inhibiting cell proliferation.
