Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Seda-Plantina is a marketed, over-the-counter herbal combination preparation developed by Divapharma (a subsidiary of the Klosterfrau Healthcare Group) and distributed by MCM Klosterfrau. It is formulated as coated tablets containing dry extracts of valerian root (Valeriana officinalis), lemon balm leaves (Melissa officinalis), and passionflower herb (Passiflora incarnata). Seda-Plantina is indicated for the treatment of restlessness, nervous tension, and nervous sleep disorders. The therapeutic effects of the combination are mediated through synergistic modulation of the GABAergic system, where valerian and passionflower extracts act as positive allosteric modulators of GABA-A receptors, and lemon balm extract inhibits GABA transaminase, thereby increasing GABA levels in the central nervous system to promote relaxation and sleep.
