Overview
Sedacur forte is a traditional herbal medicinal product developed and marketed by the German company Schaper & Brümmer. It is a fixed-dose combination of three standardized botanical extracts: valerian root (*Valeriana officinalis*), hop strobiles (*Humulus lupulus*), and lemon balm leaves (*Melissa officinalis*). The product is primarily indicated for the treatment of nervous restlessness and sleep disturbances. Its pharmacological action is attributed to the synergistic effects of its constituents, which include valerenic acids, flavonoids, and essential oils. These components are thought to modulate the GABAergic system by increasing the availability of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and inhibiting its degradation, thereby exerting sedative, anxiolytic, and sleep-promoting effects without the risk of physical dependence or significant morning grogginess.
