Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sedariston is a fixed-dose herbal combination product containing dry extracts of St. John's Wort (*Hypericum perforatum*) and Valerian root (*Valeriana officinalis*). Traditionally used in Europe for the treatment of mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, it has been investigated for its potential efficacy in children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The mechanism of action involves the synergistic effects of hyperforin and hypericin from St. John's Wort, which inhibit the reuptake of neurotransmitters like serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine, and valerenic acids from Valerian, which modulate GABAergic signaling. It is manufactured by Ardeypharm and is regulated as a medicinal product in Germany.
