Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SEK-1005 is a novel cyclic peptide originally isolated from Streptomyces nobilis and developed by Sekisui Chemical. It acts as a potent inducer of transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-beta1). SEK-1005 has been investigated for its wound healing acceleration and anti-inflammatory properties, demonstrating effects comparable to basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in wound healing and prednisolone in suppressing inflammation. Additionally, SEK-1005 has been studied in bioengineering applications, such as coating agarose rods or platinum coils, to promote local angiogenesis and vascularization, which can facilitate subcutaneous pancreatic islet transplantation for type 1 diabetes or prevent aneurysm recanalization.
