Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SEL-212 is a combination therapy designed for the treatment of chronic refractory gout. It consists of two components: pegsiticase (SEL-037), a pegylated urate oxidase enzyme that converts uric acid into the more soluble allantoin, and SEL-110 (ImmTOR), a proprietary nanoparticle containing rapamycin. The ImmTOR component is designed to induce immune tolerance to the pegsiticase enzyme, thereby preventing the formation of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) that typically limit the efficacy and safety of uricase-based therapies. By mitigating immunogenicity, SEL-212 aims to provide sustained reduction of serum uric acid levels and dissolution of urate deposits (tophi) in patients who have failed conventional therapy. The drug is administered as a monthly intravenous infusion.
