Overview

SELA-070 is a second-generation therapeutic vaccine developed as an immunostimulant for the treatment of tobacco use disorder and smoking cessation. It utilizes Selecta Biosciences' Synthetic Vaccine Particles (SVP) technology to deliver nicotine conjugated to nanoparticles that encapsulate immune-stimulating agents. The goal is to induce a strong and durable immune response by generating high levels of anti-nicotine antibodies, which bind inhaled nicotine and prevent it from crossing the blood-brain barrier, thereby reducing its addictive effects. The drug has reached Phase 1 clinical trials with support from the National Institutes of Health[1][2][5].
