Overview
Selarivavir potassium (GKT-088) is an orally bioavailable, small molecule inhibitor of the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease. Developed by Ginkgo Tree Pharmaceuticals (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., it is designed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection. The drug works by binding to the NS3/4A protease complex, which is essential for the proteolytic cleavage of the viral polyprotein into mature, functional proteins required for viral replication. Selarivavir potassium has been primarily evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China, often in combination with the HCV NS5B polymerase inhibitor sofosbuvir, targeting treatment-naive, non-cirrhotic adult patients with genotype 1 infection. This combination approach is part of a broader effort to develop highly effective, all-oral, interferon-free direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens.
