Overview

**Selenocoxib-1-glutathione** is an experimental selenium-containing glutathione conjugate analogue of celecoxib developed in academic preclinical research for melanoma. It was designed to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 and suppress phosphoinositide 3-kinase and protein kinase B signaling, with downstream activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway to growth-inhibitory levels. In melanoma cell models it showed greater antiproliferative activity than celecoxib and reduced melanoma xenograft tumor development in mice following intraperitoneal administration; it has no approved indication or marketed formulation.
