Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Selmevit is a multivitamin and mineral complex with antioxidant properties, containing a combination of vitamins (A, E, C, and B-group) and minerals, including selenium. In clinical research conducted by Tyumen State Medical Academy, Selmevit is being evaluated as an adjunct therapy for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), hyperandrogenism, and menstrual irregularities who are using combined oral contraceptives (COCs). The rationale for its use is that the antioxidant components of Selmevit can limit lipid peroxidation (lipoperoxidation) in platelets, thereby potentially mitigating the hypercoagulation and increased thrombosis risk associated with hormonal contraceptive use. The complex aims to improve hemocoagulation parameters and provide better menstrual cycle control while reducing oxidative stress in this patient population.
