Selsun Blue Naturals is an over-the-counter (OTC) therapeutic shampoo formulated for the treatment of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and scalp psoriasis. Its active ingredient is 3% salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid that acts as a keratolytic agent. It works by softening and dissolving keratin, the protein that forms the structure of the skin, thereby facilitating the shedding of dead skin cells and preventing the accumulation of flakes. Marketed as a more natural alternative within the Selsun Blue brand, the formulation includes eight intensive moisturizers, botanicals, and vitamins (such as B5 and E) to soothe the scalp. It is notably free from sulfates (SLS), parabens, phosphates, phthalates, dyes, and silicones.
