Semduramicin is a polyether ionophore antibiotic primarily used as a coccidiostat in the poultry industry. It is administered as a feed additive to prevent coccidiosis in broiler chickens caused by various *Eimeria* species, including *Eimeria tenella*, *E. acervulina*, *E. maxima*, *E. brunetti*, *E. necatrix*, and *E. mitis*. Semduramicin acts by disrupting ion transport across the cell membrane of susceptible protozoa (*Eimeria*), leading to loss of cellular homeostasis and parasite death. The compound is produced via fermentation using *Actinomadura roseorufa* or *Streptomyces coelicolor*. Its primary mechanism involves functioning as an ionophore that facilitates the movement of ions across biological membranes in target organisms. Developed by Pfizer.
