Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The senescence-targeting adenoviral vector is a replication-deficient gene therapy candidate designed to selectively eliminate senescent cells. Developed by researchers at Zhejiang University, the vector utilizes synthetic biology to deliver a highly specific and sensitive genetic sensor engineered from core regulatory elements of senescence-associated promoters. This senescence biosensor is activated specifically in senescent cells, driving a clearance mechanism to target them for destruction. In preclinical models of pulmonary fibrosis, intravenous administration of this vector successfully cleared senescent cells, reduced fibrotic burden, and significantly improved survival, representing a promising therapeutic strategy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
