Overview
SEP-378608 is an investigational, orally administered, small-molecule central nervous system (CNS)–active compound discovered in a joint phenotypic drug discovery collaboration between Sunovion Pharmaceuticals (now part of Sumitomo Pharma America) and PsychoGenics using the SmartCube in vivo behavioral profiling platform to identify agents with novel mechanisms for neuropsychiatric disorders.[1][7][9] It has been developed for mood and other CNS indications, with Sumitomo/Sunovion materials listing bipolar disorder or bipolar depression as the initial clinical focus, and remains in early-stage development without an approved indication or publicly disclosed detailed target or mechanism of action.[4][6][9][3]
