STI-1386 (seprehvec) is an oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) therapy developed by Sorrento Therapeutics. It is engineered to selectively infect and replicate within malignant cells, leading to direct cell lysis and the release of tumor-associated antigens. This process is intended to trigger a localized and systemic anti-tumor immune response. STI-1386 is a next-generation oncolytic virus designed for enhanced safety and efficacy compared to earlier iterations of oncolytic HSV. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with relapsed or refractory solid tumors, where it is administered via intratumoral injection.
