Overview

SEQ-400 is a vaccine under development for the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), specifically targeting the FimH adhesin protein of Escherichia coli. FimH is essential for E. coli to attach to and colonize the bladder, leading to infection. By generating antibodies against FimH, SEQ-400 aims to reduce bacterial attachment and subsequent infection risk. The vaccine has shown high immunogenicity and good tolerability in early clinical studies and has received FDA fast track designation due to its potential impact on reducing antibiotic use and combating antimicrobial resistance. It is being developed by Sequoia Vaccines (formerly Sequoia Sciences) and is currently advancing through phase 2 clinical trials[1][2][3][5][6][7].
