SeQuent Please is a drug-coated balloon (DCB) catheter system developed for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and peripheral arterial disease interventions. The device delivers paclitaxel—a cytostatic agent—directly to the vessel wall via a proprietary polymer-free coating matrix that includes iopromide or resveratrol as excipients to enhance drug solubility and transfer. Upon inflation of the balloon within the stenosed vessel segment, paclitaxel is rapidly released and absorbed by the vessel wall, inhibiting neointimal hyperplasia and reducing restenosis rates. The technology is clinically proven for use in treating coronary artery stenosis, in-stent restenosis (ISR), and peripheral arterial disease[1][2][3][8]. Variants such as SeQuent Please NEO are optimized for coronary use with iopromide as an excipient[1][3], while SeQuent Please OTW targets peripheral arteries using resveratrol[2]. Developed by B. Braun, this DCB platform has been evaluated in multiple randomized clinical trials demonstrating safety and efficacy.
