Overview

SER-101 (formerly DC-TAB) is a recombinant human HspB5 (alpha-B crystallin) protein therapeutic being developed by Serenity Bioworks for the treatment of severe autoimmune disorders. HspB5 is a small heat shock protein that acts as a molecular chaperone and a potent immunomodulator. It specifically targets myeloid cells, such as macrophages and microglia, to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and promote an anti-inflammatory state. Originally developed by Delta Crystallon, the asset completed a Phase I/IIa clinical trial in multiple sclerosis, demonstrating safety and preliminary efficacy. Serenity Bioworks is currently repurposing the drug for Phase II development in lupus nephritis, supported by preclinical evidence in lupus models.
