Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SER-414 is a small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor, currently under development by Serentrix for the treatment of vulvodynia. TRPV1 is a non-selective cation channel that plays a critical role in the detection and transmission of pain and heat. While early TRPV1 antagonists were often limited by the side effect of hyperthermia (elevated body temperature), SER-414 is specifically designed to inhibit TRPV1 activity while avoiding these thermoregulatory adverse events. The drug is currently in the pre-clinical stage of development.
