Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SER-777 is a small molecule TRPV1 receptor antagonist being developed by Serentrix for the treatment of uvulitis in horses. TRPV1 (Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1) is a non-selective cation channel that plays a critical role in the detection and integration of painful stimuli and inflammatory processes. A historical challenge in the development of TRPV1 antagonists has been the induction of hyperthermia as a side effect; however, SER-777 is specifically designed to block TRPV1 activity while avoiding these hyperthermic adverse events. The drug is currently in pre-clinical development as part of Serentrix's animal health pipeline.
