Seraprevir is a small molecule antiviral drug that acts as an inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural protein 3/4A (NS3/4A) protease. By inhibiting this enzyme, seraprevir blocks the proteolytic cleavage of the HCV polyprotein, which is essential for viral replication. It has demonstrated antiviral activity against HCV genotypes 1a, 1b, and 2a. Seraprevir has been studied primarily in combination with sofosbuvir for the treatment of chronic HCV infection in adults without cirrhosis, particularly in Chinese patient populations. Clinical trials have shown high rates of sustained virologic response and good tolerability[1][2][3][7].
