Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Serequr is a pharmaceutical-grade botanical extract of *Serenoa repens* (Saw Palmetto) developed and marketed by Laboratorios Q Pharma. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The extract, typically standardized to a lipidosterolic fraction, exerts its therapeutic effects through several mechanisms, including the inhibition of 5-alpha-reductase (the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone), anti-inflammatory activity via the inhibition of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways, and potential anti-proliferative effects on prostatic tissue. It is an established treatment option in Europe for mild to moderate BPH symptoms.
