Drug intelligence / Profile preview
serenoa repens + cucurbita pepo + lycopene + selenium is a multi-ingredient botanical and nutraceutical combination capsule developed by Synapse Hellenic Pharmaceuticals & Services. The formulation contains four active components: Serenoa repens (saw palmetto) extract, Cucurbita pepo (pumpkin seed) extract, lycopene (a carotenoid antioxidant), and selenium (a trace mineral antioxidant). It is being evaluated as a 6-month adjunct to 15-day antibiotic therapy in randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials for the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The combination is thought to act through multiple mechanisms relevant to prostate health, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions, as well as the potential inhibition of 5-alpha reductase, alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, and androgen receptor signaling within prostatic tissue.
