Seriniquinone is a marine-derived small molecule natural product originally isolated from the bacterium *Serinicoccus*. It acts as a selective inhibitor of Dermcidin (DCD), a protein involved in stress response, antimicrobial activity, and cellular survival. By binding to DCD, seriniquinone induces apoptosis and inhibits proliferation in various cell types, including melanoma cells and pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). In the context of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), it has been shown to attenuate MAPK/STAT signaling (specifically ERK and STAT3 phosphorylation) and downregulate Cyclin D1, thereby addressing the pathological remodeling of pulmonary vasculature.
