SeroVital is an orally administered dietary supplement developed by Sanmedica International, designed to stimulate the endogenous release of human growth hormone (hGH) from the pituitary gland. It consists of a proprietary blend of amino acids and amino acid derivatives, specifically L-lysine, L-arginine, oxo-proline, N-acetyl-L-cysteine, and L-glutamine, along with the herb Schizonepeta (Japanese catnip). The supplement's primary mechanism of action is the suppression of somatostatin (growth hormone-inhibiting hormone), a natural inhibitor of hGH and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). By inhibiting somatostatin, SeroVital facilitates a significant increase in endogenous hGH levels. Clinical research conducted at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, including a randomized, double-blind, crossover trial (NCT01540773), demonstrated a 682% increase in mean serum hGH levels 120 minutes after oral administration in healthy volunteers.
