Overview

Serplulimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1). By blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, serplulimab enhances T-cell mediated immune responses against tumors. It is approved in combination with carboplatin and etoposide for the first-line treatment of adult patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that induces DNA crosslinking, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Etoposide is a topoisomerase II inhibitor that causes DNA strand breaks and prevents cancer cell replication. The combination leverages both immunotherapy (serplulimab) and cytotoxic chemotherapy (carboplatin, etoposide) to improve outcomes in ES-SCLC. Serplulimab was developed by Shanghai Henlius Biotech and commercialized under the brand name Hetronifly[1][4][5].
