**Sesaminol** is a naturally occurring lignan compound found primarily in sesame seeds (*Sesamum indicum*) and is a byproduct of sesame oil extraction. It belongs to the class of furanoid lignans and is characterized by a unique tetrahydrofuran-based structure. Sesaminol exhibits strong antioxidant properties, primarily by activating the Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway, which leads to nuclear translocation of Nrf2, enhanced expression of antioxidant enzymes (such as NQO1), and reduction of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). Recent studies indicate that sesaminol demonstrates neuroprotective effects in cellular and animal models of Parkinson’s disease, reducing neuronal damage, enhancing dopamine levels, and preserving gastrointestinal function. It is not an approved pharmaceutical drug but has been studied for potential preventive and therapeutic roles as a dietary supplement, especially for neurodegenerative and oxidative stress-related conditions[3][4][5][6].
