Sesewanua extract mouthwash

Sesewanua extract mouthwash is an experimental botanical antibacterial formulation developed by Poltekkes Kemenkes Manado for the treatment and prevention of oral bacterial infections. The active component is an ethanolic extract of Clerodendrum fragrans Wild (sesewanua) leaves, which contains high levels of the flavonoid quercetin (13.47%). The mouthwash works by inhibiting the growth of oral pathogens, most notably Streptococcus mutans, a primary agent in dental plaque and caries formation. Research indicates that a 2% concentration of the extract is particularly effective in reducing oral bacterial loads.
