Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Setrusumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed to inhibit sclerostin, a negative regulator of bone formation. By blocking sclerostin (SOST protein), setrusumab increases new bone formation, bone mineral density (BMD), and bone strength. Its primary indication is for the treatment of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), where it has demonstrated significant reductions in fracture rates and improvements in BMD in clinical trials. Setrusumab has received orphan drug status and Breakthrough Therapy designation for OI. The drug was originally developed by MorphoSys and Novartis and is being further developed by Mereo BioPharma and Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
