Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The SeV-vector tuberculosis vaccine is a recombinant, replication-deficient Sendai virus (SeV) vectored vaccine under development by ID Pharma (a subsidiary of I'rom Holdings) in collaboration with Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, Fudan University, and Jiangsu Recbio Technology (which licensed the vaccine as REC607). The vaccine platform utilizes a non-integrating, negative-sense single-stranded RNA Sendai virus vector to express immunodominant antigens of *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* (Mtb). Key candidates developed under this program include SeV85AB, which expresses the Mtb antigens Ag85A and Ag85B, and SeV986A, which expresses three latency-associated antigens (Rv2029c, Rv2028c, and Rv3126c) along with Ag85A. Designed primarily as a booster vaccine to enhance the protective efficacy of the Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, it stimulates robust antigen-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses, particularly inducing lung tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) to provide mucosal immunity and protect against both acute and latent tuberculosis infections.
