The severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) virus vaccine is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine being developed by Phylex BioSciences. It is designed to prevent SFTS, a tick-borne viral disease caused by the SFTS virus (SFTSV, also known as Dabie bandavirus), which is associated with high case-fatality rates and is endemic in parts of East Asia including China, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. The vaccine utilizes Phylex's proprietary self-assembling nanoparticle (SANP) platform, which displays viral antigens—likely the Gn/Gc surface glycoproteins and/or nucleoprotein—on a nanoparticle surface to elicit a potent immune response. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
