Overview

This combination represents the concurrent use of sevoflurane (an inhalational anesthetic) with neostigmine (a cholinesterase inhibitor). Studies show that sevoflurane significantly impacts neostigmine's ability to reverse neuromuscular blockade. Higher concentrations of sevoflurane and continued administration during reversal are associated with delayed recovery of neuromuscular function. Neostigmine can effectively reverse vecuronium-induced or rocuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade, but its efficacy is reduced when sevoflurane is continued during the reversal process.
