Overview

sf-Ron siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the short form of the receptor tyrosine kinase Ron (sf-Ron), also known as MST1R. sf-Ron is an oncogenic, truncated isoform of the Ron receptor that lacks most of the extracellular domain but retains the transmembrane and intracellular kinase domains. It is frequently expressed in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells, including the chemoresistant CD34+CD38-CD123+ leukemic stem cell compartment, but is absent in normal CD34+ hematopoietic cells. By silencing sf-Ron mRNA, this siRNA approach inhibits the clonogenic properties of leukemic cells and induces apoptosis. Research indicates that sf-Ron signaling is associated with the activation of Lyn kinase and is regulated by epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation.
