Overview

SF0002 is a preclinical small molecule drug candidate being developed by Sarfez Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of proteinuric hypertension and chronic kidney disease (CKD). It features a dual mechanism of action, acting as both an epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) blocker and a sodium-glucose cotransporter (SGLT) inhibitor. By blocking ENaC, the drug aims to reduce sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron, while SGLT inhibition targets renal glucose and sodium reabsorption in the proximal tubule. This combined approach is intended to address the complex pathophysiology of hypertension and renal damage associated with proteinuric kidney diseases, potentially offering synergistic therapeutic benefits over single-target agents.
