Overview

SF11 is a peptide subfraction isolated from the venom of the Brazilian wandering spider, *Phoneutria nigriventer* (PnV). It is characterized as a pure peptide with a molecular weight of approximately 1603.88 Da and the amino acid sequence PyrKKDKKDKFY-GLM-NH2. SF11 is being investigated for its potential as an antineoplastic agent, specifically for the treatment of glioblastoma and other high- and low-grade gliomas. The peptide works by impairing the migration and invasion of tumor cells, a process mediated through the modulation of the RhoA-ROCK signaling pathway and the upregulation of the Adhesion Molecule on Glia (AMOG), also known as Na+/K+-ATPase β2. This activity leads to alterations in the actin cytoskeleton, changes in cell morphology, and reduced cell adhesion. The research is primarily led by the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil.
