Overview

sFRP3 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the *FRZB* gene, which encodes Secreted Frizzled-Related Protein 3 (sFRP3). sFRP3 is a member of the sFRP family that typically acts as a modulator of Wnt signaling by binding directly to Wnt proteins. While often considered a tumor suppressor in some contexts, research in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has indicated that sFRP3 may play an oncogenic role in metastatic progression. Treatment with sFRP3 siRNA in metastatic RCC cell lines has been shown to decrease cell viability and invasiveness, potentially by downregulating downstream effectors like MMP-3 and ANGPT1. This agent is primarily used as a research tool to investigate the role of Wnt signaling components in cancer biology.
