Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SFT-3001 is a dry powder inhalation (DPI) formulation of iloprost, a synthetic analogue of prostacyclin (PGI2), developed by invoX Pharma (a subsidiary of Sino Biopharmaceutical) for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The drug is delivered using the proprietary Softhaler® platform, which was acquired through the purchase of Soft-Inhaler GmbH. Iloprost acts as a potent agonist of the prostanoid IP receptor, stimulating adenylate cyclase to increase intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels. This mechanism results in significant vasodilation of the pulmonary arterial vascular beds, inhibition of platelet aggregation, and suppression of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation. SFT-3001 is designed to offer a more convenient and efficient delivery method compared to traditional nebulized iloprost, potentially improving patient adherence and therapeutic efficacy. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials.
