Overview

SFT-604 is an inhaled dry powder formulation of nintedanib, a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor, currently under development by invoX Pharma for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Utilizing the proprietary Softhaler® delivery platform, SFT-604 is designed to deliver the therapeutic agent directly to the lungs. This targeted delivery approach aims to achieve high local drug concentrations in the pulmonary tissue while minimizing systemic exposure, thereby potentially reducing the gastrointestinal side effects (such as diarrhea and nausea) commonly associated with oral nintedanib. Nintedanib acts as a triple kinase inhibitor, targeting the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), which are key signaling pathways involved in the proliferation and migration of lung fibroblasts and the deposition of extracellular matrix. SFT-604 is currently in early-stage development.
