Overview

SG-2401 is an investigational oral cyclic peptide developed by Sungening (Sungening Bio) using its proprietary Oral Cyclic Peptide Platform. The drug is designed to target Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), a protein that plays a critical role in cholesterol homeostasis by mediating the degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) in the liver. By inhibiting PCSK9, SG-2401 aims to increase the availability of LDLR on the cell surface, thereby enhancing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. As an oral agent, SG-2401 is intended to provide a more convenient alternative to currently marketed injectable PCSK9 inhibitors, such as monoclonal antibodies, for patients with hypercholesterolemia and related cardiovascular conditions.
