Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SG06 is a chalcone derivative under investigation for its neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing effects, particularly in the context of Alzheimer's disease. It operates by activating the PI3K/AKT1 signaling pathway, which subsequently inhibits Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) activity. This action is believed to mitigate tau hyperphosphorylation and amyloid-beta production, key pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's. Additionally, SG06 has been shown to restore antioxidant markers and improve acetylcholinesterase activity, thereby reducing oxidative stress and cholinergic dysfunction, and contributing to improved neuronal communication and neurotransmitter balance.
