Overview

SG299 is an investigational in vivo CAR T therapy developed by Sana Biotechnology. It utilizes a CD8-targeted fusogen platform to deliver a CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) transgene directly into T cells within the patient, enabling the generation of functional CAR T cells in vivo. This approach aims to provide an off-the-shelf therapeutic option for B-cell mediated diseases without the need for lymphodepleting chemotherapy or ex vivo cell manipulation. The primary mechanism involves targeting both CD8 and CD19, with potential applications in oncology (such as B-cell malignancies) and autoimmune diseases. As of late 2024, development remains preclinical, with ongoing research focused on both cancer and autoimmune indications[1][3][4][5][6].
