SG834 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting Kinesin Family Member 18A (KIF18A), currently in preclinical development by Sungening for the treatment of solid tumors. KIF18A is a kinesin motor protein that plays a critical role in regulating chromosome alignment and spindle tension during mitosis. By inhibiting KIF18A, SG834 aims to induce mitotic arrest and subsequent apoptosis specifically in cancer cells that exhibit chromosomal instability (CIN), while sparing normal cells. This targeted approach leverages the dependency of certain high-CIN tumors on KIF18A for successful cell division, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for various solid malignancies. SG834 has reached the preclinical candidate (PCC) stage of development.
