SGB-7342 is a long-acting amylin receptor agonist currently under development for the treatment of obesity and overweight. Amylin is a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells that plays a critical role in glucose homeostasis and appetite regulation. By mimicking the action of endogenous amylin, SGB-7342 targets receptors in the central nervous system to induce satiety, reduce food intake, and slow gastric emptying. As a long-acting analogue, it is designed for infrequent subcutaneous administration, potentially offering a sustained weight-loss effect. The drug is being developed by Siage Biopharma as part of their metabolic disease pipeline.
