SGB-ME02 is an investigational RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic being developed by Sanegene Bio (Suzhou Shengyin Biopharmaceutical) for the treatment of metabolic diseases. The drug is currently in the lead identification stage and utilizes Sanegene's proprietary LEAD™ (Liver-targeting Efficient siRNA Delivery) platform. This platform employs N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) conjugation to facilitate the highly specific delivery of small interfering RNA (siRNA) to hepatocytes via the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR). Once inside the cell, the siRNA molecules engage the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to degrade target mRNA, effectively silencing the expression of a specific protein involved in metabolic pathways. As of mid-2024, the specific biological target of SGB-ME02 remains undisclosed.
