Overview

SGB-OB04 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate developed by Suzhou Shengyin Biopharmaceutical (Sanegene Bio) for the treatment of obesity and other metabolic disorders. The drug is designed to target the activin receptor type 2 (ACVR2), a key mediator in the myostatin/activin signaling pathway that regulates skeletal muscle mass and adipose tissue metabolism. By utilizing Sanegene's proprietary RNAi delivery platform, SGB-OB04 aims to silence the expression of ACVR2, thereby promoting muscle mass preservation and fat reduction. This approach offers a potential alternative or adjunct to GLP-1 based therapies by focusing on body composition and metabolic health. As of 2024, the program is in the Lead Identification (Lead ID) stage of preclinical development.
