Overview

SGC001 is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody developed for the emergency treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). It is being developed by Sungen Biomedical, an innovative biopharmaceutical company incubated by Beijing Hotgen Biotech. The drug represents the world’s first antibody therapy specifically targeting AMI and has received FDA Fast Track Designation to expedite its development and review. Preclinical studies suggest that SGC001 works by inhibiting apoptosis of cardiomyocytes induced by target molecules in the heart, reducing oxidative stress damage, blocking downstream inflammatory responses, and increasing blood perfusion in ischemic areas. These actions collectively reduce infarct size and improve cardiac function post-MI. Early clinical trials have demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability profiles in healthy volunteers[2][4][5][7].
