Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sgc8-ICG is a novel fluorescent molecular probe developed for fluorescence cystoscopy to improve the detection and diagnosis of bladder cancer (urothelial carcinoma). It consists of the DNA aptamer Sgc8, which specifically targets protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7)—a cell-membrane protein highly expressed in various cancers—covalently conjugated to the near-infrared fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG). By binding specifically to PTK7 on bladder cancer cells, Sgc8-ICG enables targeted fluorescence imaging of tumor tissues during cystoscopy, offering potentially higher sensitivity and specificity compared to conventional non-targeted photosensitizers like 5-ALA or hexaminolevulinate (HAL). Preclinical studies in orthotopic bladder cancer models and fresh human tissues have demonstrated its safety, rapid clearance, and effective tumor-targeting capabilities.
