Overview

SGL0010 (also known as TS-033) is an orally active dual inhibitor of sodium-dependent glucose cotransporters 1 and 2 (SGLT1 and SGLT2) that was developed by Taisho Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT1 and SGLT2, SGL0010 suppresses glucose reabsorption in the renal proximal tubules, thereby enhancing urinary glucose excretion and reducing blood glucose levels. SGL0010 reached Phase II clinical trials in Japan and the United States, but its development was discontinued by Taisho Pharmaceutical in October 2008.
